The Helena Diaries by Jana DeLeon

Jana DeLeon has written an amusing mystery series involving Maryse and her late mother-in-law, Helena.  The series takes place in Mudbug, Louisiana.

The first book in the series is Trouble in Mudbug.  The book informs us that no one in Mudbug liked Helena, and Maryse liked her less than anyone. However, after Helena's death Maryse attended Helena's funeral service, and she sees the late Helena arise from the coffin.  Apparently no one else at the funeral seems to notice this.  Helena is a ghost, and Maryse is the only one that can see her, so Helena follows her around.

This book, "The Helena Diaries", is different than the other books in the series.  It takes place at the same time as "Trouble in Mudbug", but is written from the viewpoint of the newly departed, Helena.  You should read "Trouble in Mudbug" before you read this one, and this one will explain many of the things that happened in the first book.

I enjoyed this book, as I have all the books in this series that I've read.  They are funny, have many unexpected happenings, a little mystery and a little romance.
